Marjorie Taylor Greene Opposes US Military Aid For Israel: 'I Will Be Voting No On All Funding Packages...'

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) declared her opposition to new foreign aid, including support to Israel amid its ongoing conflict with Hamas.

What Happened: Greene announced via social media platform X, “I will be voting NO on all funding packages for the Ukraine war (as I have from the beginning) and now the Israel war.”

“We have had over 10 MILLION people illegally cross our border since Biden took office and we are over $33 TRILLION dollars in debt with many major problems afflicting Americans."

The Georgia Republican’s stance could potentially signal reluctance among other conservatives to back assistance to the U.S. ally. She referred to the significant national debt and major issues troubling Americans as the reason behind her stance.

“The United States government needs to focus on spending American's hard earned tax dollars on our own country and needs to serve the American people NOT the rest of the world,” Greene posted.

Why It Matters: President Joe Biden has proposed a supplemental spending package exceeding $100 billion to aid Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan and provide humanitarian assistance for illegal U.S.-Mexico border crossers.

Despite Senate GOP leaders pushing for a similar widespread aid package, conservatives affirm they won’t support foreign-policy funding unless it’s presented in standalone bills.

The Israel-Hamas conflict, ongoing for more than three weeks, has resulted in significant loss of life and property. The fighting began with a bloody incursion by Hamas into Israel, killing more than 1,400 Israelis, and Israel's subsequent counteroffensive has led to over 8,000 Palestinian deaths, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
