GOP Presidential Candidate Nikki Haley Takes A Jab At Ron DeSantis' High-Heel Rumors: 'We'll See If He Can Run In Them'

Republican Presidential candidate Nikki Haley took a humorous jab at her opponent, Ron DeSantis, amid ongoing rumors and social media speculation about the Florida Governor possibly wearing height-boosting insoles in his boots.

What Happened: Haley, who has made her high heel-wearing a key part of her campaign, responded to a question from Charlamagne Tha God on “The Daily Show” about DeSantis’s rumored use of height raisers.

“Are you wearing higher heels than Ron DeSantis next week at the debate so you can look taller than him on the stage?” the guest host asked.

Haley responded, “I don't know. We’ll have to figure that out. I can tell you I've always talked about my high heels.”

She added, “I've always said, don't wear them if you can't run in them. So we'll see if he can run in them."

Why It Matters: Florida Governor‘s cowboy boots have become the subject of social media speculation recently. Three expert shoemakers told Politico that the speculation might be valid.

DeSantis’ campaign has not yet responded to the recent comments but has firmly denied using height boosters in the past.

DeSantis’ press secretary, Bryan Griffin, in a statement, slammed Politico for running the piece.

“Considering the fact that Politico Magazine admittedly spent money to consult ‘boot experts’ to run this hit piece on DeSantis tells you all you need to know about their ‘journalism.’ The governor doesn’t pad his boots, but if he ever needed anything to line a pet cage or fold up and wedge under a table leg, that would be the highest and best use for Politico Magazine,” Griffin said.
