Luxury EV maker Lucid Group Inc LCID on Monday teased the interiors of its upcoming vehicle- the Gravity SUV and also a possible limited-edition version.
What Happened: Lucid plans to formally unveil the SUV at the LA Auto Show on Nov.16. The vehicle- which the company expects will change the world of SUVs- is expected to start production in late 2024.
The company posted a short, 30-second video of the car on Monday, showcasing the vehicle’s interiors while retaining its secrecy until unveiling. The fascinating aspect though, is the ‘dream edition’ embossed inside the vehicle. The sign hints that Gravity, like its predecessor Lucid Air sedan, might have limited production models.
Lucid Air Dream Edition came in two limited production models- Performance and Range. While Dream Edition Performance was optimized for speed and acceleration, Dream Edition Range maximized range. Both vehicles started at $169,000, more expensive than the higher-end variant of the sedan called the Grand Touring. Lucid Air Grand Touring starts at $125,600.
Why It Matters: During the company’s second-quarter earnings call in August, CEO Peter Rawlinson had said that the company anticipates similar prices for Gravity as the Lucid Air. "Well, we've indicated for some time now to anticipate prices very similar to the sort of price structure that you get with Lucid Air. But we're not in a position today to disclose those prices," the CEO said.
The Gravity SUV is expected to have flexible seating options for five, six or seven adults and a glass cockpit. The vehicle will be available in two or three-row seating configurations and will also have sufficient cargo space. Gravity, Lucid says on its website, will have a range ‘beyond anything else on the market except Lucid Air.'
