House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) lashed out at Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) after being questioned about his family’s business dealings during a committee hearing.

What Happened: Moskowitz hinted that Comer and his brother were engaged in suspicious wire transfers, similar to the ones Comer has mentioned in corruption allegations against President Joe Biden.

To which Comer reacted with strong language, labeling Moskowitz “financially illiterate.”

"The White House tried to get CNN to write that story. They went around and investigated all this bullshit that [White House spokesman] Ian Sams is trying to tell people ― that only dumb, financially illiterate people pick up on," Comer said.

"You're so financially illiterate that you think because something says LLC, it's a shell company."

"That is bulls*it."

"You look like Smurf here, going around and all this stuff," Comer said when Moskowitz continued his protest.

"You continue to spew disinformation," he added.

A previous media report indicated that Comer and his family had been implicated in land swaps involving their farming business, including one transaction involving a "shell company" where Comer transferred $200,000 to his brother.

In response to Moskowitz’s allegations, Comer denied loaning his brother money and accused the White House of trying to spread misinformation through CNN. He also defended his use of Limited Liability Companies linked to Hunter Biden, dismissing them as "shell companies" with no legitimate purpose.

Why It Matters: Comer previously claimed that a $200,000 payment from Joe Biden's brother James in 2018, revealed through a committee subpoena for James and Hunter Biden's bank statements, was suspicious despite records indicating it was a loan repayment.

Comer’s outburst happened on the same day that ex-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) reportedly had a physical altercation with a fellow House Republican and Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) threatened to fight a committee witness.
