  • 28-year-old Orlando resident Paul Ryan Overeem was arrested on suspicion of making a terrorist threat targeting the event.

Tesla Inc's TSLA long-awaited Cybertruck delivery event took place last week. Following the event, a man was arrested for allegedly planning a "mass casualty" attack.

What To Know: Tesla held its Cybertruck delivery event at its Giga Factory in Texas on Thursday to celebrate the first deliveries of the electric truck. One Florida man had other plans for the event.

28-year-old Orlando resident Paul Ryan Overeem was arrested on suspicion of making a terrorist threat last week, according to an NBC News report, citing a Travis County arrest warrant.

Leading up to the event, Overeem reportedly made a series of threats on Meta Platforms Inc's META Instagram under the name "ufotnoitalumis." He indicated that he planned an attack at the event and noted that it's "up to you guys to stop me."

"I plan on killing people ... I would like you [to] do something about it so I don't have to," he said, adding: "I wanna die."

Travis County flagged the comments as showing potential to carry out a mass casualty event. It's not clear if Overeem had any weapons when he was arrested, but his vehicle was spotted in Austin, Texas, where he was booked into custody and held on a $300,000 bail.

There are a lot of opinions out there about the Cybertruck. Some people dig the futuristic-looking design and tough build of the truck. Others believe it's ugly and will only be sought after by Elon Musk fans.

It's not clear why Overeem was targeting the Cybertruck event in particular, but the report indicates he appeared to have a problem with modern technology in general.

Tesla's delivery event went off without a hitch. The company has confirmed that it has more than one million reservations for the Cybertruck. The EV maker is expected to reach annual production of 250,000 units by 2025.
