Nevada’s Cannabis Compliance Board Gets A Dynamic New Leader
Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo announced last week that James Humm will lead the state's agency that regulates the burgeoning cannabis market.
Tyler Klimas, who currently holds the position of executive director of the Cannabis Compliance Board, told Gov. Lombardo in September he'll be stepping down, reported Nevada Current.
"I approached the governor's office in September and let them know I'd be transitioning out," Klimas said. "So we've worked over the last couple of months to put a transition plan in place and he appointed Jimmy Humm, who I'm with right now and who's going to take over the role."
Klimas plans to start a consulting company in the cannabis and hemp industry, following a one-year cooling-off period, during which he will be restricted from representing certain establishments in the state.
Lombardo praised Humm, who honed his skills while working at the Governor's Office of Economic Development since 2019, first as director of compliance and regulatory affairs, and most recently as director of public policy and government affairs.
"Jimmy has done exemplary work at the Governor's Office of Economic Development, and I look forward to Jimmy bringing his nuanced understanding of state government and industry issues to his new role," Lombardo said in a news release.
Before joining GOED, Humm spent eight years at three Las Vegas law firms reaching the level of director of operations. Humm holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of San Diego.
