The forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 series is speculated to feature a significant video upgrade, with leaks suggesting the potential for 4K recording at 120fps.
What Happened: On Tuesday, 9to5Google reported that Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series, set to launch in two weeks, could boast a new impressive video recording feature. The existing Galaxy S23 Ultra offers 4K recording up to 60fps, but the S24 Ultra might exceed this limit, offering 4K recording at 120 frames per second, based on a leak by Ice Universe on Twitter/X. This feature is currently under testing and might not make it to the final release.
The leak also indicates a shift from the 10x telephoto lens in the Galaxy S24 Ultra to a 5x lens. A Naver post also revealed potential pre-order benefits for the Galaxy S24 series, including discounts on the Galaxy Watch or the recently launched Galaxy Buds FE and double the storage at no extra cost.

Why It Matters: Samsung intends to release its flagship Galaxy S24 series early, with a possible U.S. launch date set for Jan. 17. This move is seen as Samsung’s strategy to take on Apple’s iPhone 15 series, especially in video recording capabilities.
Moreover, in November, leaked benchmark scores hint that the Galaxy S24 Ultra could be a formidable competitor to Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro, which is powered by the A17 Pro chip. This rivalry is expected to heat up further with the introduction of the possible 4K recording at 120fps feature.
