German automaker Mercedes-Benz Group MBGAF on Monday unveiled its MBUX SOUND DRIVE, a system that harnesses data from the vehicle’s sensors to curate a music track synchronized with the car’s movements.
What Happened: Developed in collaboration with Grammy award-winning artist Will.i.am, the MBUX SOUND DRIVE utilizes various sensors within the car to capture data on driving dynamics.
This data is then processed by the infotainment system’s music software, creating a distinctive musical experience that mirrors changes in acceleration, braking, and steering movements, InsideEVs reported.
The company showcased a demonstration of this innovative feature at CES 2024 and aims to launch it globally in mid-2024, initially for select vehicles, according to InsideEVs.
Ties From Past: The partnership between the renowned rapper and Mercedes AMG dates back to mid-2021, marked by their collaboration on various creative projects.
One notable venture was the creation of “The Flip,” a unique art car remixing three Mercedes AMG models: the AMG GT 4-Door, the G-Class, and SLS. This extraordinary car featured a distinctive bear-like face logo, with the Mercedes star logo at its center, aptly named ‘bear witness.’
