Popular tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee is putting his 2021 Tesla Inc. TSLA Model S Plaid up for sale, and it has already received a top bid close to the starting price of a brand-new Plaid.
What’s Happening: Brownlee listed the 2021 model on the car auction platform ‘Cars & Bids’ for sale. The highest bid so far is $80,555, just $10,000 less than the starting price of a new Model S Plaid.
Brownlee’s Plaid boasts solid black exteriors with a satin black exterior wrap and white interiors. It comes equipped with a yoke steering wheel, full self-driving capability, 20-inch Martian wheels, and a black camouflage wrap on the front grille and side mirror housings, giving the vehicle a mysterious touch. However, it does have some exterior chips.
The vehicle is still covered by the basic vehicle limited warranty and the battery and drive unit limited warranty, as it has only clocked 44,000 miles. The basic vehicle limited warranty lasts for 4 years or 50,000 miles, while the battery warranty is applicable for 150,000 miles or 8 years, whichever comes first.
Why It Matters: In response to why he’s selling the vehicle, Brownlee hinted at a new video rather than giving a straightforward answer. “Video incoming…,” he wrote.
