Trump's 'Good Man' Lindsey Graham Gets Booed In South Carolina Victory Party

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) was met with boos from the audience at former President Donald Trump‘s South Carolina primary victory party.

What Happened: Trump, who easily secured the Republican presidential primary in South Carolina, called Graham to join him on stage during his victory speech on Saturday, reported HuffPost. The crowd, however, reacted with disapproval upon hearing Graham’s name.

“I always say, when I’m in trouble on the left, I call up Lindsey Graham and he straightens it out so fast,” Trump told the audience, leading to a chorus of boos.

Despite the crowd’s reaction, Trump defended Graham, calling him a “good man” and inviting him to the stage. Graham has been a loyal supporter of Trump during his presidency, despite their rocky relationship. Graham even endorsed Trump for the 2024 White House bid, defended him against two indictments, and downplayed his anti-immigrant comments in December.

Why It Matters: Graham’s relationship with Trump has been tumultuous, with the senator facing criticism from both sides for his unwavering support of the former president.

This move came after Graham reportedly turned against Trump during his secret testimony in the Georgia election subversion case.

However, Graham has also been a vocal supporter of Trump, backing the former president’s stance on NATO members’ financial contributions and endorsing him for the 2024 White House bid, despite their rocky relationship.

Just last month, Graham publicly accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of orchestrating the death of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, leading to his addition to Russia’s list of “extremists and terrorists.”
