Microsoft Corp.’s MSFT Blizzard has just launched the first Public Test Realm (PTR) for Diablo 4, giving a select group of players the chance to get a sneak peek at what’s coming in Season 4.
This PTR, announced in late March, runs from April 2 to April 9. It’s only available to those with a PC Battle.net account.
Players who are part of the PTR get early access to test out new features and updates, giving them a chance to provide feedback before Season 4 officially launches.

However, there has been a bit of a setback. Season 4 has been pushed back from its original April 16 release date to May 14, as revealed by Diablo Community Lead Adam Fletcher in a recent Campfire Chat episode.
Season 4 is shaping up to be a game-changer for Diablo 4, with significant changes planned for itemization that promise to shake up the gameplay experience. While Season 3 brought some tweaks, like Class Changes, Season 4 is expected to have a much bigger impact.
For those who’ve recently joined the Diablo 4 community through Xbox Game Pass, there are a few things to note. Unfortunately, there’s no Xbox achievement support, and PC Game Pass users must install Battle.net to access the game.
Step-by-Step Guide for Early Access
In order to join the PTR for Diablo 4 and gain early access to Season 4, follow these steps:
- Open the Blizzard Battle.net App and locate Diablo IV in your Games list.
- Above the Play button, find the game version drop-down menu and select ‘Public Test Realm’.
- Click on ‘Install’ to download and install the PTR client. The button will change to ‘Play’ once installation is complete.
- Click ‘Play’ to log in to the PTR, then choose any available Test Server.
- Create a new test character within the game.
- Enter the game and start exploring Season 4!
For PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate users, accessing the PTR is also possible. Simply access the Battle Net client through the Xbox App, then proceed to access the PTR through Battle Net as usual.
