Approaching $100M: Cannabis Business Quality Roots' Revenue Soars With New Store Launches

  • Quality Roots, led by CEO Aric Klar, has grown organically and prioritizes community engagement and employee development.
  • Klar's entrepreneurial spirit was ignited early, nurtured in a family business environment of pharmacies and toy stores.

In an industry where the ground is as fertile as it is competitive, Quality Roots has become a thriving company, much like the cannabis it retails. Spearheaded by CEO Aric Klar, the company’s journey from inception to becoming a shining light in cannabis retail is a story of organic growth, community engagement and strategic expansion.

From Humble Beginnings To Industry Recognition

Klar’s entrepreneurial spirit was ignited early, nurtured in a family business environment of pharmacies and toy stores, and blending the serious with the playful. In an interview with Benzinga, Klar reminisced about the foundational influences of his family’s involvement in the pharmacy business, which he said gave him a profound understanding of healthcare and customer service from a young age.

“I was born in that business,” Klar said. He said this has brought with it a unique approach that has led to Quality Roots focusing on education and medical benefits while keeping the experience enjoyable for customers.

Organic Growth And Employee Development

Quality Roots’ impressive growth to 250 employees without acquiring assets is a testament to Klar’s commitment to organic expansion and nurturing talent from within.

“Taking the 68 people who are still with me from 2020 … and now those people are managing stores or my directors of compliance … that’s been the most rewarding part,” Klar said, highlighting the importance of internal growth and community in the company’s success.

Commitment To Community

Beyond business, Quality Roots’ commitment to community involvement stands out. From local parades to significant contributions like the municipal signage initiative in Madison Heights, Michigan, Klar believes in the symbiotic relationship between the business and its community. “If you take care of the community, that community takes care of you,” he noted, underlining the company’s ethos of giving back and building rapport with localities.

Klar, enthusiastic about the new store opening in Madison Heights, is aiming to impact the area like never before.

“This makes us the most prominent cannabis retailer in Oakland County in terms of footprint,” Klar revealed, showing the strategic importance of this new location in expanding Quality Roots’ presence and influence.

What’s Next?

As Quality Roots sets its sights on new markets like New Jersey, the challenges of adapting to new state infrastructures are matched by the opportunities of a less saturated market. “We’re excited to ride that wave longer than we were able to ride that way to Michigan just due to the nature of the business,” Klar explained, optimistic about replicating the company’s successful model in new territories.

Under Klar’s leadership, Quality Roots is growing plants and cultivating success through community engagement, employee development and strategic expansion. With its roots firmly planted, the company looks forward to branching out further, promising a greener future for itself and the communities it serves.
