DUK reported a weaker-than-expected second-quarter profit.
Duke Energy's quarterly net income fell to $339 million, or $0.48 per share, from $444 million, or $0.99 per share, in the year-earlier quarter. Excluding one-time items, it earned $0.87 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $0.94 per share.
Its operating revenue surged to $5.88 billion from $3.58 billion.
Duke Energy shares closed at $71.12 yesterday.
