Joique Bell To Discuss Journey From Rookie To Prominent NFL Running Back At Benzinga Draft Event

Bell began his football career at Wayne State University, distinguishing himself in collegiate football. His professional path, which started with signing as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2010, is a testament to his determination and resilience. 

Career And Challenges

Despite not being drafted, Bell signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2010 as an undrafted free agent. His early professional years were marked by movement between teams; after his stint with the Bills, he experienced brief periods with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Indianapolis Colts, all within the same year. Bell’s determination was evident as he sought to secure a stable position in the highly competitive NFL.

Establishing Himself With The Detroit Lions

Bell’s perseverance paid off when he joined the Detroit Lions in late 2011. The following season, he became a regular on the field, participating in all 16 games and accumulating yardage on the ground and through the air. In 2012, Bell racked up 414 rushing yards and 485 receiving yards. 

His versatility was on full display in 2013 when he and Reggie Bush each achieved over 500 rushing and receiving yards for the season, a milestone for NFL running backs. Following his impressive performance, Bell secured a two-year contract extension worth $7 million in 2014, reaffirming his role with the Lions. He remained with the team until 2016, aside from a brief tenure with the Chicago Bears.
