U.S. Grand Jury Subpoenas Toyota Documents (TM)

A U.S. grand jury has ordered Toyota Motor Corp TM to turn over documents related to problems with rods that connect vehicle steering systems to their front wheels, Reuters is reporting. The report notes that "The subpoena was at least the third Toyota has received this year, potentially deepening the automaker's legal issues following its recall of more than 10 million vehicles since last September." Toyota, once a benchmark for automotive quality, has suffered massively from recent recalls and safety issues. The stock, which was trading above $90 earlier this year, is down 2% today, to $69.75. The U.S. government previously ordered Toyota to pay a $16.4 million fine for delaying a January recall. Toyota said in a statement that it would comply with the subpoena.
