China Telecom Wants iPhone (CHA, AAPL)

China Telecom CHA wants to offer sexy handsets to get users to use its 3G services. This means offering faster data transfers and receing higher revenue per user. This ultimately means getting Apple's AAPL iPhone. Current versions of the iPhone wouldn't work with the CDMA technology used by China Telecom’s network. People familiar with Apple's plans have said the company is working on a CDMA phone, but Apple has not announced this yet. “If we can have an iPhone, that would be good, but we’ll just wait and see” if Apple makes any progress toward offering a CDMA version of the iPhone, said an official at the company who declined to be named.
