Over time, the company has been progressively extending video durations. Initially, in January, certain creators gained access to 30-minute clips, and presently, all users can upload content as lengthy as 10 minutes. Moreover, creators who offer subscriptions are granted the privilege of uploading videos up to 20 minutes in length.

Initially known for short, vertical videos, TikTok is now moving towards longer, YouTube-style content. Some creators were even encouraged to post horizontal clips for better visibility. Additionally, TikTok’s monetization program now requires videos longer than a minute to qualify.

While TikTok sparked a trend of short-form video content, it’s now doubling down on longer content and livestreaming, akin to Alphabet Inc‘s GOOGL YouTube or Amazon.com Inc AMZN Twitch. The platform regularly hosts livestreamed events, like music competitions, expanding beyond short videos.
