Ex-Trump Official Says Rule Of Law Has Passed The Stress Test With Hush-Money Trial, Flags This As 'Danger For All Americans'

  • Comer said it was frustrating that the NY hush-money trial will likely be the only criminal trial that will have a verdict before election.
  • The rule of law in this country, especially the court system, has passed its stress tests, he says.

Former FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday shed light on his former boss Donald Trump and the ongoing investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Stress Test: The Department of Justice, led by Attorney General Merrick Garland, was too slow to act and it cost us, said Comey on MSNBC’s “Alex Wagner Tonight” show. “We finally got a special counsel very late in the game and we’re stuck the way we are,” he added.

“I would have hoped they would have moved faster but again given when they came into office, what they were trying to accomplish, I get why they did it but I still think it was a mistake.”

Comer agreed that it was frustrating that the New York hush-money trial will likely be the only criminal trial that the American public will have a verdict on, before the election. But he saw the trial as a “great civics lesson” for the American public.

“It appears more are paying attention than I would have expected and they’ve seen — this is how it works…..You have to sit at that table no matter who you are and shut up. The jury is what matters,” he said.

“The rule of law in this country, especially the court system, has passed its stress tests, slow on the federal side but this is a great example for our people.”

Trump 2.0: If Trump were to be re-elected it’s going to be serious for the Justice Department and the FBI, Comer said.

“Trump is coming for those institutions. He knows their power and I think he has regrets that he didn’t work hard enough to corrupt them last time. So he’s coming for them,” the ex-Trump official said.

“And that’s a danger for all Americans.”

Comer suggested that Trump will likely cherry-pick this time around. “He’s going to put people in positions in those organizations. He didn’t have all stars the last time, he’ll have the bottom of the barrel this time, but people who will want to do his will and that should worry every American.”

He also called upon people to participate and vote for President Joe Biden.

“People have to participate. You cannot sit on the sideline. I don’t care how you feel about Joe Biden, you must vote for him because the consequences on the other side are too severe,” he said.
