Naughty Dog’s next game “could redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming,” says studio head Neil Druckmann.
In a recent interview with Sony Group Corp. SONY (via IGN), Druckmann, who co-directed and wrote for the series The Last of Us and Uncharted, shared his vision for the future.

Although he’s already worked on several dream projects, he’s particularly excited about this upcoming one, which was confirmed in March 2023 but remains a mystery.
“[I] am currently excited about a new one, which is perhaps the most thrilling yet,” the creative director said.
“There’s a growing appreciation for gaming that transcends all age groups, unlike when I was growing up,” he added. He pointed out that the TV adaptation of The Last of Us helped bridge the gap between gamers and non-gamers, showing how rich and immersive gaming experiences can be.
The success of The Last of Us series has shone a spotlight on gaming, and Druckmann is excited to see how their new project will be received globally. “I’m eager to see how this new game resonates, especially following the success of The Last of Us, as it could redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming,” he stated.
While details about the new game are still under wraps, Druckmann’s comments suggest that Naughty Dog is aiming for something even bigger than before.
The studio’s last major releases include The Last of Us: Part 2 in 2020, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in 2017, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in 2016.
