In the latest episode of Benzinga’s Cannabis Insider, Phylos chief commercial officer Whitney Conroy shared groundbreaking developments in Phylos’ elite F1 hybrid seeds and their significant advancements in THCV research.

Phylos, a company leading in cannabis genetics and sustainable large-scale cultivation, has introduced elite F1 hybrid seeds.

These first-generation seeds are bred for consistency, offering growers uniform and reliable genetics.

“You could plant 1,000 seeds, and you’ll get almost the exact same genetic very uniform,” Conroy explained. This uniformity ensures a consistent consumer experience across different states, addressing a major challenge in the cannabis industry.

Conroy emphasized the benefits of these seeds for commercial-scale cultivation.

"The seeds produce high-quality, potent, and vigorous plants with exceptional flower quality and yield," she noted. The stability and reliability of these seeds mark a significant advancement in cannabis cultivation, making it easier for growers to produce consistent and high-quality products.

Breakthrough In THCV Research

Phylos has also made considerable strides in THCV research, a rare cannabinoid known for its energizing effects. Partnering with People Science, Phylos conducted a clinical trial to study THCV's effects, discovering its potential as an energizing and motivating high without the fatigue and munchies typically associated with THC.

"A lot of people love consuming THCV before they go to the gym or on a bike ride. It's a very active high. People often say, ‘I cleaned my entire house' or ‘I went on a long hike' after using it," Conroy shared. This research highlights THCV’s unique properties and potential uses, positioning it as a valuable cannabinoid for consumers seeking an active and energizing experience.

Environmental Sustainability

Phylos is committed to environmentally sustainable cannabis production. Conroy discussed the environmental advantages of using seeds over clones, including reduced energy consumption and greater disease resistance.

"Seeds are drastically better from an environmental standpoint," Conroy explained. The vigorous growth and shorter cycles of seed-grown cannabis contribute to lower energy use and reduced pesticide application, aligning with Phylos’ sustainability goals.

Future Projects and Initiatives

Looking ahead, Phylos is focused on further commercializing its elite F1 hybrid seeds and continuing its research into rare cannabinoids.

Conroy hinted at upcoming developments, including new seeds with high THC content and other beneficial attributes.

"We're excited to announce our next one soon," she said, indicating ongoing efforts to advance cannabis genetics through scientific research.

Conroy highlighted Phylos’ innovative approaches to cannabis genetics and their impact on the industry.

As Phylos continues to push the boundaries of cannabis cultivation, their work promises to shape the future of cannabis production and consumer experiences.
