Behaviour Interactive has announced significant layoffs, affecting up to 95 employees — 70 based in its Montreal office.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, the decision comes as part of what the company terms “structural changes” to pursue a “clarified vision.”
The studio has seen substantial growth in recent years. It expanded from 575 to 1,300 employees over five years.
In a press release, Behaviour outlined its renewed focus on its “historical strengths,” particularly in the horror genre, while reassuring that the development of Dead by Daylight and Behaviour’s service business remain unaffected by the layoffs.

Rémi Racine, Behaviour’s co-founder and CEO, said: “I would like to express my deep personal appreciation for any employee affected by today's changes. While changes to our structure and strategic vision have led to challenging decisions, we are confident that these decisions will position us for continued success.”
He added: “As we begin the next phase of Behaviour’s growth, our commitment to excellence in our products and workplace culture remains steadfast.”
This isn’t the first instance of layoffs for Behaviour’s Montreal studio, as earlier this year, it saw a reduction of 3% of its global workforce.
Despite these changes, the company has been active in expanding its portfolio, as evidenced by its acquisition of multimedia production firm Fly Studio in March, although the sum of the acquisition remains undisclosed.
