Flower remained the most sought product category among those seeking recreational cannabis, accounting for $124.3 million of adult-use sales for the month. As Benzinga's Patricio Liddle recently highlighted "Michigan's lower tax rates and stronger enforcement against illegal operations have pushed consumers into the legal market." Moreover, the neighboring states do not have legal recreational cannabis, attracting out-of-state customers.

As of the end of May, Michigan had 2,227 active adult-use cannabis business licenses and 1,764 active medical licenses.
