Stellantis Recalls Over 1M Vehicles In US Over Rearview Camera Image Display Issues

Stellantis NV STLA is recalling over a million vehicles in the U.S. owing to an issue that may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying.

What Happened: The recall includes certain 2021-2022 Dodge Durango, 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 2022-2023 Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and Ram Promaster vehicles.

The radio software in these vehicles may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying on the media screen when reversing, thereby increasing the risks of a crash, U.S. auto safety regulator National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.

As for a solution, dealers will update the radio software free of charge for customers.

All in all, 1,033,433 vehicles are being recalled. The 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica is the most impacted.

Why It Matters: Stellantis has recalled over 2 million vehicles in the U.S. this year and is one of the automakers to have issued one of the most number of recalls in the country, as per data from NHTSA.

Of the vehicles recalled on Tuesday, Jeep Grand Cherokee L and Chrysler Pacifica account for the most with over 200,000 units of each being included in the recall action.
