Cannabis genetics company PURPLEFARM has partnered with a cultivation management platform, Neatleaf, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics to save labor and improve yields. The Canadian cannabis company teamed up with Neatleaf to automate and optimize its cultivation processes with the Neatleaf Spyder system. Rollout began in their state-of-the-art, 86.000 sq. ft Fredericton, New Brunswick facility in March 2024.

"Spreading our wings into New Brunswick, with such a well-respected name as PURPLEFARM is why I built my company in the first place," stated Elmar Mair, Neatleaf CEO. "It's so exciting to see it all come together. To be able to bring precise and actionable data to the table and help this organization streamline production and improve efficiencies and quality of output is rewarding. The Neatleaf Spyder, a fully autonomous robotic platform is a cable-based system that scans indoor cultivation crops, generating millions of data points monitoring everything from individual plant height and health to pest infestations, in 24-hour cycles.

"Since PURPLEFARM integrated Neatleaf’s Spyder system, our cultivation has reached new heights of consistency, embodying our commitment to pioneering not only with new cultivars but also with new technology," Mitchell Alswiti, PURPLEFARM founder said in a statement. "With the Spyder system, PURPLEFARM's yields have increased, underscoring our dedication to pushing the boundaries of craft cultivation. 24/7 oversight has become our beacon of risk management, enabling us to safeguard our crops, from detecting pests, diseases and viroids early on to minimizing disruptions. The Spyder system allows us to focus on cultivating the best flower for our partners."
