Alibaba Group Holding Limited‘s BABA AI-powered energy-management tool, Energy Expert, will reportedly be utilized in the Paris Olympics to minimize electricity consumption across competition venues.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will deploy this data-driven tool to achieve the first carbon-neutral edition of the Games, SCMP reports.
Energy Expert, developed by Alibaba’s cloud unit, uses deep learning-based AI models to analyze real-time power consumption data.
It provides venue-specific forecasts and recommendations to optimize energy demand and reduce power waste. This tool will be operational at all 35 locations during the Games, from July 26 to August 11.
To offer comprehensive energy consumption analysis, Alibaba will also incorporate historical data from previous Games, including London 2012, Pyeongchang 2018, and Tokyo 2020.
The Paris Olympics aims to halve event-related carbon emissions compared to previous editions and offset the remaining emissions through reforestation and renewable energy projects.
Price Action: BABA shares are trading lower by 0.60% to $77.54 in the premarket session at the last check Tuesday.
