Turkish game developer and publisher
Peak Games
has set a record for the most concurrent online game players in Turkey. In just three years, Peak Games has gone from 20,000 to 300,000 concurrent users. "The concurrent user metric is actually very important to us," Rina Onur, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer for Peak Games, told Benzinga. "For [our] community-based type of games to work, there needs to be people not just logging in and out sporadically throughout the day, but people have to be present at the same time in the [Plus franchise] games. So that CCU [concurrent user] number translates into much larger daily user numbers for that game. So that's a huge effect." Peak Games has increased its DAU (daily active users) to 11.8 million across Turkey and MENA (Middle East & North Africa). This has helped the firm raise revenue 300 percent annually. "When you look at Turkey and the Middle East region combined, they're about 400 million people who live here, which is a mini-China," said Onur. "You can target this region in two languages, in Turkish and Arabic, and have command over a huge population. "Besides that, Turkey has been a huge gaming market for many, many years now. Not as a supplier but as a consuming market. It has been one of the top five markets for a lot of the gaming companies around the world, be it casual gaming companies or browser-based MMOs. I think there has been an incredible demand in this country, but not enough supply, especially not enough culturally relevant supply."

"I think three years ago we started out saying that we wanted to dominate this region and create culturally relevant games across platforms, and we're gonna be game genre agnostic and platform agnostic," said Onur. "I think we've achieved that, and I think we're gonna continue to focus on that and continue to dominate these new platforms in this region." More than 15 games can be found on Peak Games'
