Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour' Inspires Free Art Exhibition At London's V&A Museum, Featuring Outfits, Custom Cowboy Boots, Ballet Shoes, And Musical Instruments

In a tribute to pop icon Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’, London’s Victoria And Albert Museum is set to host a free art exhibition. The exhibition will showcase Swift’s iconic fashion and personal memorabilia.

What Happened: The V&A South Kensington will commence an exhibition on Saturday, July 27, featuring Swift’s renowned outfits, custom cowboy boots, ballet shoes, and musical instruments, CNBC reported on Thursday. The display will run until Sept. 8.

The ‘Songbook Trail’ at the V&A will consist of 13 installations, each representing a different era of Swift’s illustrious career. The exhibit will include 16 outfits, such as the Victorian-inspired black dress from her 2024 song “Fortnight” and a lavender tulle dress from her 2023 “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” album cover.

Early career memorabilia, including the costume Swift wore during her 2008 “Fearless” tour and the Taylor Koa guitar from the “Soul2Soul II” tour in 2006-07, will also be on display.

The exhibition aims to celebrate Swift’s musical journey and her influence on fashion. It is expected to attract Swift’s fans and curious visitors, providing them with a deeper understanding of her creativity and career.

“Taylor Swift’s songs like objects tell stories, often drawing from art, history and literature,” said Kate Bailey, senior curator for theater and performance at the V&A.

Why It Matters: Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ has not only made her a billionaire but also boosted the economies of the cities she performed in. Her concerts in Edinburgh, Scotland, triggered seismic activity and are estimated to have injected $98 million into the British economy.

Moreover, Swift’s music has contributed to the resurgence of vinyl sales in the U.K. Her “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” album was the best-selling LP in 2023, contributing to the highest vinyl sales in the U.K. since 1990.

The tour has also inspired two large murals close to London’s Wembley Stadium, where Swift is set to perform next month.
