Li Auto, XPeng, Nio: July EV Deliveries From Chinese EV Startups Compared

Chinese EV startups Nio Inc NIOLi Auto LI, and XPeng XPEV reported their July delivery numbers on Thursday with Li Auto topping among the three by a significant margin.

What Happened: Li Auto said on Thursday that it delivered a record 51,000 vehicles in July, marking a 49.4% jump in sales year-over-year and a nearly 7% increase from June.

The rise in sales, Li Auto said, could be attributed to the continued popularity of its Li L6 SUV of which the company sold over 20,000 units.

"Li L6 sustained its robust sales performance with monthly deliveries continually exceeding 20,000 and has become a blockbuster model in the RMB200,000 to RMB300,000 price range," the company said.

XPeng also witnessed its deliveries rise in July but couldn’t keep up with Li Auto’s pace. The company delivered 11,145 vehicles last month, marking an increase of 1% year-over-year and 4% from June.

The Guangzhou-based EV startup will start to display its all-electric hatchback coupe called XPENG MONA M03 at showrooms across China from the start of August, it said.

Shanghai-based Nio, meanwhile, delivered 20,498 vehicles in July, including 11,964 SUVs and 8,534 sedans. This marks a 3.3% dip from its June delivery numbers and a meager 0.2% rise from its sales in July 2023.
