• Southwest Airlines LUV topped estimates with second quarter earnings of 29 cents versus estimates of 27 cents, as revenues soared 21% to $3.2 billion, up from estimates of $3.15 billion

• Waste Management WM reported in-line second quarter earnings of 54 cents, on revenues of $3.16 billion, ahead of Street estimates of $3.1 billion

• Motorola MOT reported a one-penny beat with second quarter earnings 9 cents on revenues of $5.4 billion, down 1.5%, but ahead of projections of $5.2 billion

• Raytheon RTN reported second quarter earnings 8 cents above estimates on revenues of $5.97 billion, that missed estimates of $6.42 billion

• ExxonMobil XOM reported second quarter results of $1.60, up from estimates of $1.46, or $7.56 billion, on revenues of $92.4 billion, that fell short of estimates of $96.86 billion
