What's Stopping Kamala Harris From 'Delivering Right Now?' Mark Cuban Says 'The Same Thing That Stopped Mike Pence From Doing Anything'

In a series of Twitter exchanges, Billionaire entrepreneur and Shark Tank star Mark Cuban engaged with users over a couple of days who questioned why Harris hasn’t “delivered” on her promises despite her position of power. Cuban is a notable Kamala Harris supporter.

His comments also came in response to Harris’ recent rally in North Carolina, where she laid out her plans to address the high cost of living, including initiatives on food prices, housing, and health care. These proposals are largely in line with the Biden administration's broader goals.

When asked why Harris hasn’t made more of an impact during her time as Vice President, Cuban pointed out that her role is similar to that of her predecessor, Mike Pence. “Serious answer. As VP, she has as much authority as Pence did as VP. That’s like asking why Pence didn’t finish the wall. Or do anything for health care. Etc.,” Cuban tweeted, drawing a comparison to Pence’s tenure, which many also viewed as limited in power.

One user argued that Harris has had more power than most vice presidents due to her role as the tiebreaking vote in the Senate. While this is true, Cuban pushed back, emphasizing that the VP’s influence is still largely limited. “How many VPs have voted against their party when they were the deciding vote? In all of history?” Cuban replied, underscoring that the Vice President's vote is almost always predictable and aligned with the President’s agenda.

Cuban elaborated on his point by questioning whether the Vice President could realistically oppose the President's wishes. “Do you really think the VP can vote contrary to what the POTUS wants?” he asked.

In a separate tweet, Cuban said, “The same thing that stopped Mike Pence from doing anything except saving the country by certifying the election,” referring to the constraints of the Vice President’s role.

To further illustrate his point, Cuban conducted a social media poll asking his followers who they believe is in charge of the executive branch of the United States and responsible for 100% of its policies. The results were clear: 70.6% of the 196,676 participants said the President holds that responsibility, while only 29.4% believed it was the Vice President.

Cuban’s comments point out that people often don’t fully understand the Vice President’s job. While the VP can be important in certain situations, like breaking ties in the Senate, their power is still limited because the President oversees the entire executive branch.
