Actor and content creator David Granados has entered the music scene with a bang, and his debut single, “Sativa,” is creating a buzz by combining cannabis culture with catchy reggaeton beats.

The track is not only stirring excitement on social media but is also fueling a new trend of dance videos, where fans are rolling their joints while showcasing their moves.

“Sativa,” a Spanish-language song, is more than just a catchy tune. Granados, who is Colombian-American, crafted it after a vivid experience during a cannabis Sativa edible trip in Miami following the Latin Billboard Awards.

The song recounts his journey of coming out as bisexual and aims to challenge the norms of reggaeton, a genre traditionally dominated by heterosexual perspectives.

“Sativa” recounts his coming-out journey as bisexual, blending this personal narrative with themes of cannabis use and a provocative take on reggaeton —a genre often associated with straight male dominance.

“‘Sativa’ is not just a song; it's a celebration of identity and freedom. This song is my love letter to being bi and fully embracing it as part of who I am,” Granados shared in an interview with Out.

“Growing up in a traditional environment, challenging the binary, singing queer lyrics, and talking about a threesome and cannabis consumption feels subversive but also very healing. The world loves reggaeton, but it's a straight male-dominated industry. It's time to give queer people queer lyrics to dance to, and I know my inner child would be very proud,” he added.

Granados’ work extends beyond music to include appearances in TV shows such as Pose, West Side Story and Saturday Night Live.
