“Your money is personal. You worked very hard for your money. Why would you want to just hand over the reigns and not really look over somebody’s shoulder or do some due diligence…”

She shares some simple lessons from several regular CNBC guests who were also contributors in Lori Ann’s book “Thriving in the New Economy” . These include investors WilBur Ross and Ron Baron, and real estate mogul Richard LeFrak.

She explains that they produce Squawk Box to be infused with some pop culture to make business news less dry. But she stresses you have to do your own homework, read the major newspapers and magazines to stay on top of the current events. Also, how Lori Ann shares with us how she started as a local news reporter before being involved with business news. She has been at CNBC for 10 years and started as Maria Bartiromo’s segment producer. Lori Ann was the first to book Exxon Mobil’s former CEO Lee R. Raymond to appear on Maria’s show.

Part 3: Lori Ann responds to a twitter question “How do you book guests to come on CNBC?” Also, she shares what she believes is the most important question that should be on American’s minds as we wade through this recession.

Lori Ann says, “I try to get interesting people on. People that will get you emotional…I want people so you can talk about it.”

Beyond this, she probes her contacts with two main questions:
1. Who should we be talking to?
2. What are the topics we should be talking about?

Also, she shares what she believes is the most important question that should be on American’s minds as we wade through this recession. A lot of people still ask her what’s the best way to make fast money in the markets. She says in a recession as bad as this one, we should be focusing on preserving capital and staying afloat. The big thing on Lori Ann focuses on is jobs. Unemployment is not getting better and that’s the real concern.
