NFL Week 4 Betting Odds, National TV Games: Will Daniel Jones Stay Winless On Thursdays, How Many 3-0 Teams Will Stay Perfect?

Zinger Key Points
  • Underdog teams have done surprisingly well for bettors on the 2024 NFL season.
  • There are five 3-0 teams heading into Week 4 and three of them are underdogs to go 4-0.

The 2024 National Football League season enters Week 4 with five of the 32 teams holding a perfect 3-0 record, including the Kansas City Chiefs, hoping to become the first NFL team to win three straight Super Bowls.

Here's a look at the weekly betting odds, trends to watch and the media companies benefiting from strong viewership.

Week 4 Betting Odds: Week 4 features 16 NFL games across Thursday, Sunday and Monday before bye weeks kick in that will see fewer weekly games.

Here are the week 4 matchups and the betting odds from sportsbook DraftKings Inc DKNG with the team's records in parentheses.

  • Dallas Cowboys (1-2) -5 at New York Giants (1-2)
  • New Orleans Saints (2-1) at Atlanta Falcons (1-2) -2.5
  • Cincinnati Bengals (0-3) -4.5 at Carolina Panthers (1-2)
  • Los Angeles Rams (1-2) at Chicago Bears (1-2) -3
  • Minnesota Vikings (3-0) at Green Bay Packers (2-1) -3
  • Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3) at Houston Texans (2-1) -6.5
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0) -1.5 at Indianapolis Colts (1-2)
  • Denver Broncos (1-2) at New York Jets (2-1) -7.5
  • Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) -1.5 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1)
  • Washington Commanders (2-1) at Arizona Cardinals (1-2) -3.5
  • New England Patriots (1-2) at San Francisco 49ers (1-2) -10.5
  • Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) -7 at Los Angeles Chargers (2-1)
  • Cleveland Browns (1-2) at Las Vegas Raiders (1-2) -2
  • Buffalo Bills (3-0) at Baltimore Ravens (1-2) -2.5
  • Tennessee Titans (0-3) at Miami Dolphins (1-2) -1
  • Seattle Seahawks (3-0) at Detroit Lions (2-1) -3.5

A quick look at the betting odds shows three of the five undefeated 3–0 teams are underdogs in Week 4 with the Vikings, Bills and Seahawks all predicted to lose by sportsbooks. The other undefeated teams, the Steelers and Chiefs, are favored by 1.5 and 7 points in their respective matches.

With no 3–0 teams playing each other, the week could once again end with five unbeaten teams.

There are three 0-3 teams (Titans, Jaguars and Bengals). None of the three teams play each other, which means each NFL team could have a win after Week 4. The Bengals are the only favorite of the three teams this week.

The Cowboys’ and Giants’ opening game stands out to bettors based on one interesting trend. Starting Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has never won a non-Sunday NFL game. Jones is 0-5 on Thursdays and 0-7 on Mondays. Jones is also 1-13 in NFL Primetime games.

Two big betting trends have emerged for the current NFL season: heavy favorites are unable to cover the spread, and the public's favorite bets are struggling.

Sports betting reporter Ben Fawkes said underdogs of 5.5 points or more are against the spread and 10-4 overall. The Jets, 49ers, Texans and Chiefs are all favored by more than six points.

The public's favorite bets for the week with DraftKings, according to Fawkes, are the following:

  • Cowboys -6 (79%)
  • Steelers -1.5 (79%)
  • Rams +3 (74%)
  • Vikings +2.5 (67%)
  • Eagles -2.5 (67%)

Bettors should also be aware that Hurricane Helene could impact several NFL games with high winds and heavy rain. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Miami Dolphins all host games and could be in the storm's path.
