Activision Faces Backlash Over Warzone Playlist Changes Before Black Ops 6

Raven Software's recent consolidation of Warzone playlists has ignited a strong response from the game's passionate fanbase.

The restructuring announced ahead of Microsoft Corp’s MSFT Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has removed several popular gameplay modes.

As part of its "preparations" for the future of Warzone, Raven has streamlined the playlist options, now offering:

• Battle Royale Solos & Quads
• Resurgence Duos & Quads

Additionally, Plunder, Bootcamp, and active Limited-Time Modes (LTMs) remain available. While Trios has been removed from both Battle Royale and Resurgence, it's still accessible through Ranked Play for Rebirth Island, a smaller map.

This reduction in options, particularly the loss of Duos and Trios in Battle Royale and the exclusion of Solos and Trios from Resurgence, has led to a surge in community complaints.

Warzone Community Reacts

"This might be one of the worst decisions I've ever seen," said YouTuber Westie, a well-known figure in the Call of Duty community. "You're essentially sunsetting core branches of your game and giving no real explanation at the time the change is being made. Some added context/information would be wonderful."

Moreover, James Crowder, former Call of Duty World Champion and current head coach of Atlanta’s FaZe Clan, questioned: “Listen.. I love you guys and Warzone but what the hell is going on with these playlist updates?”

Many fans share similar sentiments. For instance, one user said: “Is Warzone down that bad? I wonder if there isn't enough player base anymore.”

Playlist Changes Spark Speculation About Black Ops 6

Raven referenced Black Ops 6 in the announcement, stating that the playlist overhaul was part of the preparation for the new release.

Warzone will incorporate the upcoming shooter's mechanics, weapons, and gear, but the connection between this and the need for a playlist consolidation remains unclear.

Fans have noted that Black Ops 6 is set to release on October 25, suggesting that the reduced playlists may only be temporary.
