With just three weeks until Election Day, Willie Nelson is rallying support for Vice President Kamala Harris in his own distinctive way. The 15-time Grammy Award winner will host a community Zoom call to "emphasize the importance of cannabis reform in America."
The virtual event is scheduled for Oct. 24 at 7 p.n. when Nelson and his wife Annie D'Angelo will broadcast from their Luck Ranch in Texas to drum up support for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz,
"I'm excited to bring together such an amazing group of people to talk about something we all care about deeply," Nelson said in a statement reported by Deadline."Cannabis is a path to healing, opportunity, and justice, and supporting leaders like Kamala Harris who understand that is crucial to putting an end to federal prohibition and undoing the harms it caused to so many, particularly communities of color where it has been disproportionately enforced."
VIPs Will Join In, You Can Too
The event, described as a virtual “smoking circle,” will feature an array of notable participants, including Whoopi Goldberg, Colorado Governor Jared Polis and U.S. Rep Brittany Pettersen (D-CO).

Support For Decriminalization In Texas
Nelson has also thrown his support behind Dallas's Proposition R, an initiative to decriminalize the possession of less than four ounces of cannabis. This measure, known as the “Dallas Freedom Act,” would also make marijuana possession a low-priority enforcement issue for local police if passed.
“Marijuana is an herb and a flower, not a crime,” Nelson said in his endorsement shared on the X account of Ground Game Texas, the nonprofit, which has organized cannabis reform initiatives across multiple Texas cities.
“Proposition R in Dallas is about fairness and freedom. It’s long past time to end the criminalization of weed in Texas, and I’m proud to support Ground Game Texas in their efforts. Vote for Prop R, and let’s move forward together,” Nelson said.
Supporters of the amendment say they're hopeful Nelson's endorsement will inspire voters.
"We are honored to have Willie Nelson's support for the Dallas Freedom Act. Like far too many Texans, Willie knows firsthand how much a weed possession charge can disrupt a life,” said Catina Voellinger, executive director of Ground Game Texas said. “We're grateful for his years of advocacy for common sense reform and we look forward to continuing this work across Texas.”
According to a recent poll, 73% of Texans support back full legalization or decriminalization.
