Fans recently saw Shaquille O’Neal’s $12 million condo in Mexico City. For someone like Shaq, this one-bedroom condo is surprisingly small compared to the extravagant mansions you'd anticipate from such a famous athlete. He explained his reasoning with a smile: "I kept it small ’cause I don't really come here a lot." Even though it's smaller, the place is still filled with Shaq-level luxury.

Don't Miss:

Shaq also has a strong personal connection to Mexico, which began during his teenage years when he lived in San Antonio, Texas. As a child, he was surrounded by Hispanic culture, learning about Mexican customs, cuisine and festivals from his friends – especially the Ramos family. As a result of this early relationship, he developed a strong appreciation for the culture and the Mexican community has always given him support.

In a YouTube video, Shaq walked viewers through the space, showing off features like a sleek dining area, a living room that doubles as a cigar-smoking space and his chef, Alex. He also showed the master bedroom with an amazing panoramic view of Mexico City. Shaq said the condo is located on the top floor of a building he invested in, adding, "This is how we live in Mexico."

The apartment might not be huge, but the view, the style and having his chef certainly make it feel like a Shaq-worthy space.

In addition to being a basketball legend, Shaquille O’Neal is now a business expert and financial influencer. Forbes estimates that Shaq made $700 million throughout his NBA career and has a wealth of knowledge about managing money.

In a 2024 interview with CNBC Select, Shaq shared one of his key money lessons: "It's not about how much you make; it's about how much you keep." This simple but powerful advice is something everyone can learn from, no matter how much they earn.

During a recent podcast, Shaq also discussed learning from his failures: "Before you succeed, you must first learn to fail." This mindset eventually helped him become a four-time NBA champion.

Despite all his success, Shaq also revealed a more somber side of his life. He has made considerable personal sacrifices over the years, as seen by the fact that he lives alone in a 100,000-square-foot house. Shaq has been honest about how he lost his family as a result of his unwavering focus on his work and his failings. That’s why he frequently advises others to avoid repeating his mistakes.
