Rumor Central: Cisco Looking To Acquire Sonus Networks (SONS)

There is a rumor out on Wall Street today that Cisco Systems CSCO is looking to acquire Sonus Networks, Inc. SONS. The price being thrown out is somewhere in the $6 per share range, almost a 100% premium to where Sonus is currently trading. Sonus Networks, Inc. provides voice, video, and data infrastructure solutions for wireline and wireless telephone service providers. Its products include infrastructure equipment and software that enable voice services to be delivered over Internet protocol (IP) packet-based networks and are built on the distributed IP-based principles embraced by the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture. Shares of Sonus are higher on this rumor, up 3 cents to $3.08, after spending most of the morning in negative territory.
