RTX Corp RTX plans to expand its workforce in India by 1,000, aiming to grow its current 7,000 employees by 2027.
The company’s expansion reflects its focus on leveraging India as a hub for talent to support its global operations, reported Reuters, citing company executives.
As part of the plan, RTX will hire 300 engineers for Pratt & Whitney within the next 18 months and 700 roles at Collins Aerospace over three years, primarily seeking engineers and data scientists to drive innovation and efficiency.
“India, from an RTX perspective, is not a low-cost destination. It is our talent hub. We have around 150 global roles, running their teams sitting out of India. Our biggest export is our talent,” reported Reuters, citing Collins Aerospace Vice President of Engineering Savyasachi Srinivas.
Srinivas stated that Collins Aerospace, which manufactures evacuation slides, cabin, pilot seats, and avionic sensors in India primarily for export, plans to consolidate three manufacturing sites into a larger facility in Bengaluru by 2026.
Global aerospace and defense firms such as Airbus, Rolls-Royce, and Lockheed Martin operate technology—and engineering-focused global capability centers in India. According to Nasscom and Zinnov, the GCC market in India is projected to grow from $64.6 billion in 2024 to $99–$105 billion by 2030.
Jayant Mukherjee, head of Asia-Pacific and India Digital Capability Center at Pratt & Whitney, stated that the company’s India center serves as a hub for global teams, enabling digital transformation, data analytics, and the development of small and large language models (SLMs and LLMs) to streamline maintenance and inspections.
Price Action: RTX shares are trading higher by 1.07% at $115.67 premarket at the last check Thursday.
