Kids and adults alike have been longing to see “The Lego Movie” for many months now, but it was finally released this past weekend and grossed a whopping $69.1 million at its debut. Out of this $69.1, $18.1 million occurred internationally, according to the TWC, as it has struggled to keep up with other animated films and their studios in this space.
Rival toy makers have not seen the results that the Danish company has seen, with “Transformers” and the G.I Joe franchises.
Phil lord who was a director and Chris Miller a writer have previously worked on Lego films and this but a great accomplishment in terms of their previous successes.
According to CBS local, Paul Dergarabedian, a senior media analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak, believes that the Lego films are going to be a long-term franchise.
