This Is One Bad Egg (CALM)

The Wall Street Journal just wrote an article about the massive egg recall that is going on, as people are getting salmonella poisoning. Here is the link to the CDC press release. No deaths have been reported, said Christopher Braden, a CDC epidemiologist involved in the investigation to the Wall Street Journal. Initially, the recall was for 228 million eggs, but that has since grown nearly 70% to include some 380 million eggs. The play on this is to short Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. CALM. Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. engages in the production, grading, packaging, marketing, and distribution of shell eggs primarily in the southeastern, southwestern, mid-western, and mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. The areas which Cal-Maine operates are precisely where the outbreak is occurring. As a result of the recall of these 380 million eggs, shares of Cal-Maine are down 45 cents today to $29.48. Investors should keep pressing this short until this situation clears itself. Disclosure: no position in CALM
