Starbucks, Agnico Eagle Mines, Freeport-McMoRan And More On CNBC's 'Final Trades'

On CNBC's “Halftime Report Final Trades,” Kevin Simpson of Capital Wealth Planning picked Agnico Eagle Mines Limited AEM ahead of quarterly earnings, expecting a fifth straight quarter of record free cash flow.

After the closing bell on Thursday, Agnico Eagle Mines reported fourth-quarter earnings of $1.26 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.18 per share. The company reported quarterly sales of $2.22 billion which missed the analyst consensus estimate of $2.27 billion by 2.01 percent.

Bill Baruch of Blue Line Capital named Freeport-McMoRan Inc. FCX, saying gold has been setting record highs and now it's time for silver and copper. Copper has gained more than 10% month-to-date, while Freeport is still close to the lows. “I like Freeport to run here,” he added.

Freeport-McMoRan, meanwhile, on Jan. 23, reported fourth-quarter FY24 results. Revenue stood at $5.72 billion, missing the consensus of $5.99 billion. Adjusted EPS was $0.31, beating the consensus of $0.22.

Liz Young Thomas of SoFi picked KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF (NYSE KWEB) as her final trade.

Rounding out the trades, Joshua Brown of Ritholtz Wealth Management said he is staying long on Starbucks Corporation SBUX, which hit a new 52-week high on Thursday.

Adding support to his choice, Starbucks, on Jan. 28, reported better-than-expected financial results for the first quarter. The coffee giant reported first-quarter revenue of $9.4 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $9.32 billion. Starbucks reported first-quarter earnings of 69 cents per share, beating analyst estimates of 66 cents per share, according to Benzinga Pro.
