Technology giant Qualcomm Inc QCOM unveiled a new name for a portion of its brand portfolio that operates outside of Snapdragon.
What Happened: Dargonwing is Qualcomm's new brand portfolio that covers sectors like industrial and embedded IoT, networking infrastructure, and cellular infrastructure, helping to provide solutions for industrial innovation.
"Our mission is to deliver intelligent computing everywhere. We have an amazing suite of products, and while you may be familiar with the Snapdragon brand portfolio, you may not know that we have a whole suite of products outside of Snapdragon," Qualcomm SVP & Chief Marketing Officer Don McGuire said.
McGuire said the new portfolio marks a new step in Qualcomm's journey to help empower businesses and industries to "scale to new heights."
"We thought it was time to bring a unique identity to this product portfolio and clearly articulate the value proposition for customers."
Dragonwing will help Qualcomm stay relevant to industries with a brand identity that covers items like industrial robots, cameras, industrial handhelds, drones and more, McGuire added.
"Dragonwing, however, isn't just a name; it's our promise to drive transformation and elevate industry growth."
The name for Dragonwing and a dragon icon "symbolizes ascension, power, and acceleration," Qualcomm said. The color palette includes purple, which fuses Qualcomm's innovative blue and Snapdragon's bold red.
What's Next: Qualcomm said Dragonwing will help accelerate industrial innovation in the digital age.
"The Dragonwing portfolio empowers company growth, productivity and competitiveness – at a global scale," McGuire said.
Dragonwing can help companies unlock "smarter decision-making" and boost operational efficiency, the company said.
The newly named segment will cater to the industrial segments and complement the Snapdragon brand, which has leadership in consumer sectors.
"Together, Dragonwing and Snapdragon create a strong, purpose-built portfolio."
Qualcomm will debut the Dragonwing at MWC in Barcelona from March 3 to March 7 and Embedded World in Nuremberg from March 11 to March 13.
QCOM Price Action: Qualcomm stock closed at $161.10 on Monday versus a 52-week trading range of $149.43 to $230.63. Qualcomm stock is up 5% year-to-date in 2025.
