Verizon and Accenture Partner to Expand Cybersecurity Services and Strengthen Business Protections

On Monday, Verizon Communications Inc VZ, Verizon Business, and Accenture Plc ACN announced a collaboration to accelerate advanced cybersecurity solutions. The deal aims to help businesses of all sizes mitigate growing threats, from data breaches to phishing attacks to social engineering.

The partnership will begin by offering new as-a-service capabilities, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), Managed Extended Detection and Response (MxDR), and cyber risk services.

Following this initial phase, the partnership will concentrate on co-innovating new solutions.

Telecom companies, including AT&T Inc T, Verizon, and T-Mobile US, Inc TMUS, faced cyberespionage attacks by the China-linked Salt Typhoon group in 2024. The companies confirmed the breach in December 2024 reports and said their networks were secure after the breach.

In April 2024, FBI Director Christopher Wray cautioned that China could disrupt US infrastructure, explicitly targeting telecom, energy, and water sectors. China had denied the allegations.

Despite being active trading partners, China and the US remain embroiled in intensifying geopolitical tensions. In 2019, the U.S. restricted Chinese smartphone giant Huawei’s access to advanced semiconductor technology, citing national security threats.

On Sunday, Lockheed Martin Corp LMT integrated Nokia Corp’s NOK military-grade 5G solutions and Verizon network management capabilities into the Lockheed Martin 5G.MIL hybrid base station.

The technology advances new capabilities to integrate commercial 5G connections with military communications systems to provide decisive information for national defense. 

Verizon reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue growth of 1.6%, reaching $35.70 billion, topping the analyst estimate of $35.32 billion. Adjusted EPS of $1.10 was in line with the consensus estimate.
