On Monday, Microchip Technology Inc. MCHP introduced a fresh offering for the electric two-wheeler (E2W) industry, designed to ease the development of e-scooters and e-bikes.
Microchip’s E2W ecosystem aims to tackle key issues like power efficiency, system integration, and safety. These solutions provide manufacturers with a high-quality, scalable platform to develop dependable, feature-packed electric two-wheelers with faster market entry.
The ecosystem’s key solutions to optimize electric two-wheeler performance include advanced battery management systems (BMS), which improve power utilization and extend battery life.
“Manufacturers often struggle with optimizing power efficiency, ensuring seamless system integration and meeting evolving safety standards,” said corporate vice president of Microchip’s dsPIC business unit, Joe Thomsen.

The 48V to 12V power conversion system enhances system efficiency, while the 7.4 kW single-phase AC EV charger supports fast and flexible home charging.
Additionally, the modular design of the ecosystem ensures smooth development of various power levels and feature sets for e-scooters and e-bikes.
The Vehicle Control Unit (VCU), along with technologies like remote keyless entry and hands-on/off detection, enhances security.
The integrated telematics and asset tracking support real-time monitoring and theft prevention, aiding in better fleet management. Cloud-enabled diagnostic tools provide remote performance tracking, benefiting both riders and fleet operators.
