RTX Corp‘s RTX Collins Aerospace has secured an $80 million contract to upgrade the avionics systems of U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopters.
The modernization will feature Collins’ MOSA-compliant Mosarc® system, enabling faster and more flexible technology integration on the battlefield. Mosarc is engineered to streamline future upgrades, reduce long-term maintenance costs, and enhance fleet commonality across the Army’s current and future aircraft. Work on the contract will be conducted in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Huntsville, Alabama.
Jenny Miller, vice president and general manager of Military Avionics and Helicopters at Collins Aerospace, stated that Mosarc will equip Black Hawk cockpits with open systems architecture, allowing for the rapid integration of new capabilities to meet evolving operational demands.
Last week, Collins Aerospace also received approval for Full Rate Production of its MAPS GEN II navigation system for U.S. Army use. The system delivers jam- and spoof-resistant positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) data for both crewed and uncrewed ground vehicles, including military watercraft.
Additionally, RTX signed three agreements with JetZero to support its blended wing body aircraft demonstrator. Under the agreements, Pratt & Whitney will supply the PW2040 engine and auxiliary power unit (APU), while Collins Aerospace will provide the nacelle and propulsion mounting structure.
Price Action: RTX shares are up 1.9% at $132.56 at last check Monday.
