Zings of the day (AAPL, MSFT, AEO)

Apple AAPL eased restrictions on apps yesterday, causing shares of its longtime rival Adobe ADBE to jump. This morning Nokia NOK announced it would be replacing CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo with Stephen Elop, to try to boost its market share in the smart phone market. Elop comes from Microsoft MSFT, where he ran Microsoft's business division. Elop moves from one big, boring company to another. How is this an upgrade Nokia? Oh that's right, it's not. The new GM CEO, Dan Akerson, will receive $1.7 million in salary as GM's CEO writes Reuters. He will also receive many used car salesmen jokes as his bonus. There was surprising strength in shares of American Eagle AEO today. Too bad no one is buying their faded jeans and awful looking t-shirts.
