Shares of home appliance manufacturers were largely unmoved by a report that June shipments in the sector rose 11.3 percent.
The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers said shipments of major home appliances rose to 7.51 million in June, up from 6.75 million a year earlier, according to Bloomberg.
Major kitchen appliances were up 7.9 percent, laundry appliance shipments gained 7.3 percent and air conditioners rose 31 percent.
Year to date, shipments of all major appliances were up 3.9 percent.
Stocks, however, did not respond quite as favorably.
Whirlpool WHR rose 0.78 percent to $140.39; General Electric GE was down 0.19 percent to $26.61; Sears Holdings SHLD fell 1.7 percent to $38.77.
