Following a management meeting with Visa V from August 17, Josh Beck of Pacific Crest Securities had several takeaways that lead him to favor Visa over Mastercard MA.
Beck feels that:
- New mobile partnerships could help visa differentiate, thereby gaining share
- Potential partnership with Apple makes sense
- Opportunity to replace checks and cash with digital payments has tremendous runway
David Hochstim of Buckingham Research is also in the Visa camp, citing the company's various initiatives to expand its role in digital commerce to help it sustain high rates of revenue and EPS growth. Hochstim goes on to say Visa seems likely to help speed development of new products and services for consumers that generate more transactions for its network.
Shares of Visa closed Monday at $214.32 , up 1.96 percent.
