Zings Of The Day (ARNA, GS, ORCL, RIMM)

Arena Pharmaceuticals ARNA failed to convince the FDA that its obesity drug was safe. One of the major concerns was the dead mice in the trials. The company didn't disclose this because it didn't feel it was material. Who let company management in? Jojo the idiot circus boy? Research In Motion RIMM reported better than expected earnings yesterday, despite shipping fewer devices than analysts had predicted. The company blamed this on lagging sales of the Blackberry Torch, which consumers thought was so hideous they did just that. Shares of Oracle ORCL jumped more than 5% today, as the technology titan posted much better than expected earnings and revenue last night. The company attributed stronger software sales to helping beat earnings estimates. I attribute it to Larry Ellison, the movie star. The University of Michigan consumer sentiment was below expectations this morning, coming in at 66.6. It would've been higher had Michigan not given up 24 points to Notre Dame on Saturday. Goldman Sachs GS came out with a report this morning that gold may reach $1300 an ounce fairly soon. In other news, I will be starting up my own cash for gold website, entitled givemeyourgoldandyougetnothing.com
