Piper Jaffray Previewing Ground Transport Q3 Earnings (ABFS)

Piper Jaffray previews the Q3 ground transport earnings, and in particular Arkansas Best Corporation ABFS. In the research note, Piper Jaffray writes, "Multiple discussions with both public and private TL and LTL providers yielded that volumes continued to grow at strong rates albeit somewhat moderated from the acceleration witnessed during 2Q10. We believe LTL demand fundamentals were stronger than TL per our conversations. The consensus of TL carriers we spoke with was demand - albeit up y-o-y –moderated somewhat during a seasonally heavier September. We believe there to be a greater potential for shipments to reaccelerate into the holiday reminiscent of peak years' past." Shares of Arkansas Best Corporation gained 95 cents to close at $23.82, a gain of 4.15%.
